Welcome to STEPS!

The STEPS mission is to find out what the most effective treatments are for veteran and civilian patients coping with Post-Traumatic Stress. With the support of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) a team of researchers and clinicians led by the University of Washington are working with primary care clinics across the country to see whether providers should recommend medications or talk therapy first.

We are recruiting 700 patients from Community Health Centers and VA Medical Centers across the country that are experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Patients who agree to participate are randomized, like the flip of a coin, to one of three treatment options delivered by their primary care team.
